Hi! I am Mr. Bermudez (Mr. B)

I have been teaching at New School since 2019. I was born and raised in Watsonville. I went to Cabrillo College then transferred to UC Santa Cruz where I got my B.A. in Psychology. After graduating, I moved up to Washington, where I got my teaching credential from the University of Washington. There, I taught dual language Math, meaning I taught math in Spanish. After my first son was born, we decided to move back to Watsonville, and I am so glad I did because I found New School. Since being back, I have gotten my M.A. in Educational Leadership from CSUMB. Even now, I still take classes at Cabrillo. I love learning as much as I can.

Know that at New School you will always have
community and support. You can always reach out to us even if you are no longer with us. Remember to Never Give Up!

JODI RICHARDSON

JODI RICHARDSON

 Jodi Richardson

My name is Jodi Richardson

I earned my teaching credential at San Jose State University back in the early nineties. I taught in a few school districts over the hill in Santa Clara County before moving to Santa Cruz with my family.

I took time away from teaching after my second son was born. When my sons grew older, I volunteered at their schools working in the classrooms and going on field trips. One of my sons was diagnosed with a learning difficulty. As a parent and a teacher, I have learned a great deal because of these experiences. Furthermore, it has changed the way I see things and has made me an even bigger supporter of alternative schools.

For the past few years, I have worked with the Santa Cruz County Office of Education as an alternative education teacher. These positions led me to my new position at New School. I am excited to be working here. I know that education can change lives for the better.
RUSSELL BRYAN LOVE

RUSSELL BRYAN LOVE

My name is Russell Bryan Love, Mr. Love.

I teach Environmental Science, Biology and PE at New School.I started teaching at New School as a substitute in the spring of 2010 and I have been here ever since.

What I’ve learned about teaching in that time is that we Learn By Doing, we Learn Together, and that there should be no boredom allowed. !No Aburrimiento Permitido!I also coach the New School Aztecs beach volleyball, flag football, basketball and soccer teams in the Monterey Bay Alternative Schools Athletics League. Our teams have won 15 MBASAL championships in the sixteen years I’ve been coaching here.

Beyond my luck in catching Mrs. Love, raising my three sons, and living with my three grandchildren now - working at New School is the greatest thing I’ve done in this lifetime.
