A Message from Our Principal, Susan Graulty
Hello and welcome to New School Community Day School!
It's truly an honor to lead a school dedicated to empowering students. My journey in education began in 2002 as an instructional aide, and since then, I've had the privilege of working in diverse roles, from a general music teacher to a CTE instructor within the juvenile justice system. For the past six years, I've served as the Coordinator of VAPA and GATE services for PVUSD. With a lifelong love of music, stemming from my family's music business and my own service as a professional flutist in the Illinois Air National Guard, I deeply understand the transformative power of creative expression.
At New School, we believe in nurturing innovative thinkers and creators. Over the past two years, we've actively transformed our curriculum to a Project-Based Learning (PBL) environment. This puts students at the center of their learning through dynamic, hands-on projects that encourage collaboration and real-world problem-solving.
We're also excited to share some new additions this year:
- Digital Music Lab: We've opened a state-of-the-art digital music lab, providing a space for students to explore their musical talents, learn production techniques, and unleash their creative potential through sound.
- CTE Entrepreneurship Pathway: We've added a Career Technical Education (CTE) Entrepreneurship pathway, offering practical skills and insights for students interested in starting their own ventures or leading innovative projects.
Our ultimate goal with these changes is clear: to equip our students with every tool they need to think creatively and independently. We want them to feel empowered to explore any passion they choose, confident that they have the skills to build their own pathways to success.
