Your Voice Matters! Help Shape New School Community Day School!

Hi New School Families and Alumni!
Did you know there are special groups at our school where your ideas and opinions can really make a difference for our students? These groups are called the School Site Council (SSC) and the English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). We really want you to be a part of them!
Think of it like this: these are places where parents, teachers, and even former students get together to make important decisions about how our school runs and how we can best help every student succeed.
How Being Involved Helps Your Child (and All Students!):
1. School Site Council (SSC): Your Voice for the Whole School!
The SSC is like our school's "planning team." Parents, staff, and our principal work together here.
-
What You Help Decide:
-
Where the Money Goes: You help decide how special funds are spent. This means you have a say in things like new computers for classrooms, extra help for students, cool new learning materials, or fun activities.
-
School Goals: What do we want our students to achieve this year? How can we make the school even better? You help set these important goals.
-
Programs that Work: Got an idea for a program that could help students? This is the place to talk about it and help make it happen!
-
-
Why It Matters: When you're on the SSC, you're directly helping to shape the resources and programs that benefit every student, including yours!
2. English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC): Supporting Our Language Learners!
If your child is learning English, or if you speak a language other than English at home, ELAC is especially for you! This group helps us make sure our English Learners get all the support they need to shine.
-
What You Help Decide:
-
Special Help: You give ideas on how we can best teach and support students who are learning English.
-
Easy Communication: How can we make sure all families get important school information in a way they understand? ELAC helps us figure this out.
-
A Welcoming School: Your ideas help us make sure our school feels welcoming and supportive for all cultures and languages.
-
-
Why It Matters: Your input ensures that every English Learner at our school gets the right tools and support to learn and thrive!
Why Should YOU Join?
-
You Make a Difference: Your ideas and experiences are valuable! You can help make our school an even better place for all students.
-
Stronger School: When parents, staff, and alumni work together, our school community becomes stronger.
-
Stay Informed: You'll be "in the know" about what's happening at school and what big plans are being made.
-
Show Your Child You Care: Your involvement shows your child that their education and their school are important to you.
-
For Our Alumni: You've been through it! Your stories and advice from being a student here are so helpful. What would have helped you most? What was great? Share your experience to help students now!
Ready to Help Shape Our School's Future?
We invite all parents and our wonderful alumni to come to our SSC and ELAC meetings. It's a great way to be involved, meet other parents, and directly impact the education of our students here in Watsonville.
Let's work together for our students! We can't wait to see you there!
